Mr and Mrs Symcox

June 21, 2010

I’ve received a really lovely thank-you card from Sarah and Roddy Symcox:

Thank you card for wedding singer Simon PartridgeThank you card sent to wedding singer Simon Partridge

I sang at their wedding reception at the end of May this year which was held at the delightful Chequers Inn at Woolsthorpe in Lincolnshire.  Sarah and Roddy had chosen a vintage theme for the evening which included an art deco-style wedding cake and black-tie dress code.

I sang for an hour-and-a-half (two 40-minute sest with a 10 minute break) and had a great time.  The songs “Cheek to Cheek” and “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” went down particularly well – it’s always nice when people get up and dance.

In their card Sarah and Roddy wrote:

“We just wanted to write and let you know how thrilled we were with your performance at our wedding celebration last week.  So many people have commented on how fantastic you were and how appropriate for our theme.  A few have even asked for your details for their own forthcoming parties!

“Some asked ‘Where did we find you?’ and ‘Were you a recommendation?’.  I replied that I found you on the internet, but was so impressed with your approach and professionalism that having listened to your recordings online I was satisfied you were right for the job.  Well, in fact, I was wrong – you were perfect!  And even better in person than we could have hoped for!  Thank-you so much for helping to make our day so special and memorable.”

Crumbs!  How kind!  I have the best job in the world and to receive a card like the one that Sarah and Roddy sent is the icing on a particularly lovely cake.
