Daryl and Claire’s Wedding 22-01-11

January 24, 2011

I had a jaunt up the M6 to Lancashire on Saturday to sing for Daryl and Claire Adams at their wedding in Leyland near Preston.  The venue was the Best Western Premier Leyland Hotel.

Despite being (literally) just off junction 28 of the M6 the hotel is a really nice venue and outside has some very striking sculptures:

Instead of the usual wedding breakfast, Daryl and Claire had opted to have afternoon tea with their wedding guests and had chosen a vintage theme.  Each place setting had a vintage teacup, saucer and cake plate and there were beautiful vintage birdcages as table centrepieces.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon’s work, singing my way through two forty-minute sets of songs which had been chosen from my repertoire by the bride and groom themselves.

I’ve said it before, but I really do think I might have the best job in the world!  Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Adams and many thanks for letting me be part of a wonderful afternoon.

Hi Simon. Have finally made it on to your blog to offer our sincere thanks for making our wedding afternoon tea so special. Your singing is so elegant and fitted in beautifully with our theme. Our guests thought you were wonderful and will remember our wedding for a long time to come. It may be an idea for you to produce a CD for guests to purchase? I know a few guests who would have liked to take one home(us included) Kind Regards Claire & Daryl.

Thanks, Daryl and Claire. I’m actually working on a CD at the moment which should be out soon. I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s available.
