Richard and Nicola’s Wedding 12-02-11

Singing at weddings is always a pleasure, but last Saturday was especially pleasurable because the bride and groom were friends of mine.  Richard and Nicola got married at St Paul’s church in Dosthill, Tamworth followed by a reception at the Lea Marston Hotel in Sutton Coldfield.

Richard and Nicola met in 2008 whilst performing in a production of “Love’s Labour’s Lost” by William Shakespeare that was being staged by Shakespeare in the Park in Lichfield.  Every year Shakespeare in the Park stage an open-air production of one of the Bard’s plays (usually one of the comedies) with any profits made being donated to local charities.  It just so happened that I was in the production too…

…and we became friends.  Nicola assures me that I gave Cupid a helping hand getting her and Richard together, but as I remember it he didn’t need much help!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the wedding ceremony because I had to be set up at the hotel in time for their arrival there from the church, but it was a pleasure and an honour  to sing for them on their wedding day.  Here’s wishing them many, many happy years together.
