Buckinghamshire Wedding Breakfast Goes Back to the Fabulous Forties

July 4, 2011

I love to sing at weddings, particulary during the wedding breakfast where I get the chance to serenade people as they share the bride and groom’s first meal together as husband and wife.  Recently I was delighted to travel to the beautiful Horwood House Hotel near Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire which was the elegant setting for Dean and Catherine’s wedding breakfast.

They booked me to perform two fifty-minute sets as their family and guests dined.  Choosing a 1940s theme they created some brilliant little touches.  These mock ration books were such a clever idea for a place card:

And instead of a traditional signature book they asked their guests to “send” them a special vintage wedding “telegram”:

My repertoire of songs from the 1920s, 30s and 40s was the perfect musical accompaniment to their meal and a splendid afternoon was had by all, myself included.
