A Picture Perfect Wedding

May 11, 2012

Regular readers (hello you two!) will remember my post from earlier in the year where I came over quite giddy waxing lyrical about photographer Gemma Williams’ wonderful photograph of me (that now graces the right-hand sidebar).  Well, last Saturday I had the enormous pleasure of singing at Gemma’s wedding which was held at the splendid Brobury House in Herefordshire.

Brobury House and Gardens, Herefordshire

The house, built in 1881, sits in eight acres of beautiful gardens and was the perfect setting for the intimate wedding that Gemma and her fiance Chris had planned.  The bride and groom mingled with their guests before the ceremony and all were served drinks from Audrey the Caravan which came courtesy of Cheryl at Vintage Glamour Days:

Instead of the usual sit-down meal the couple treated their guests to afternoon tea on the lawn after the ceremony.  I  set up on the terrace at the back of the house and sang for everyone as they enjoyed their cakes and sandwiches in an idyllic location.

Afternoon tea, also provided by Vintage Glamour Days, was laid out in the marquee.  And what a fabulous spread it was too – finger sandwiches, cake, scones, cupcakes,  strawberries and cream all washed down with lashings of lovely tea brewed in proper china teapots and served in beautiful china cups and saucers.

The afternoon was a delight.  Despite the paucity of  sunshine the air was filled with animated conversation and laughter as the bunting (and some of the guests!) danced in the breeze.

My two-hours flew by and when I finally had to finish I managed to grab a quick snap with Gemma and Chris…

Their stylish departure rounded off a wonderful day and it was a pleasure to have been part of it.  Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Jones!
