Not So Quiet on the Weston Front

June 26, 2012

When I was a child, Weston Park was a mysterious, slightly magical place.  Each time we headed west for a family holiday in North Wales I would see its imposing sign standing proudly above the high stone wall that snaked alongside the A5 in Shropshire.  I couldn’t see the house from the road, but that just made it all the more enigmatic.  In my mind then it has always been associated with happy times.

I’m pleased to report that having now sung there those happy associations are even stronger.  I was invited to sing at the beautiful seventeenth-century house for Peter and Kirsty’s wedding drinks reception.

Weston Park was built in 1671 and has grounds that were landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown.  Inside it contains a wealth of antiques and paintings and was the perfect setting for Peter and Kirsty’s celebrations.

I had the pleasure of singing in the splendid Marble Halls.

The reality of what lies beyond Weston Park’s wall is every bit as special as my young self imagined it to be on those long, hot car journeys.  Congratulations to Peter and Kirsty and I look forward to renewing my happy associations with Weston Park very soon!

Great memories of the day, and Simon’s performance was excellent and much enjoyed by our 3 year-old flower girl who was captivated! Our only regret was Kirsty and I weren’t around much to listen to the songs, but there’s always the wedding DVD to look forward to so we can see what we missed.
Thanks again Simon, we had very enthusiastic reviews from all our guests and you helped make the day the most special of our lives.
    Peter and Kirsty x
