A Charming Farm That’s Not So Far

September 19, 2012

I regularly travel all over UK in the course of my work, sometimes driving hundreds of miles to sing at a wedding or event.  But every now and then I get to “keep it local” and invariably find that some of the nicest venues in the country are right on my doorstep.  Such was the case back in July when I sang for Ray and Gemma as part of their wedding celebrations  at Packington Moor just outside my home city of Lichfield in July 2012.

Packington Moor is a family run business that is rightly proud of its heritage.  The Barnes family have been farming at Packington Moor since 1921 and in addition to their seven hundred acres of arable, two hundred sheep and succesful farm shop and cafe the family have created a delightful wedding venue in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.

Ray and Gemma were married in The Oat Barn at Packington Moor (pictured above with its fantastic exposed timber beams) and I sang during the drinks reception that followed.  This being July the weather was, sadly, wet and guests weren’t able to take advantage of the coutyard area outside the barn:

Despite the inclement conditions there was a wonderful atmosphere at Packington Moor and I look forward to singing there again soon.

Congratulations to Ray and Gemma.  I wish them every happiness for the future.
